Race-day instructions

  • Lyon SaintéLyon: the rules announce 164 km; the page is titled 160 km and describes two 82 km legs. Start from Lyon on Saturday 28 November at 09:00; unranked outward leg, rest and meal in Saint-Étienne, timed return with front-line access.
  • Outward leg: leave Soucieu km 19 by 12:15, Sainte-Catherine km 48 by 17:00 and Saint-Christo km 62 by 19:30; Saint-Étienne km 82 by 22:30. Under the rules, these cutoffs lead to transport to Saint-Étienne without excluding participation in the classic SaintéLyon.
  • Return: local distances 17, 32, 48, 60, 67 and 82 km, cutoffs at 04:00, 07:00, 09:30, 12:00, 13:30 then closing. For continuous point ordering, 82 km are added arithmetically to return distances: this is neither a GPX measurement nor a new official distance.
  • The rules announce drop-bag transport to Sainte-Catherine then Saint-Étienne, but switch from singular wording to “first” and “second”: confirm the number of bags, hand-in procedure and limits. Two headlamps and a GPS watch with the outward track are listed in the basic kit.
  • Individual bib collection at Halle Tony Garnier, 20 place Docteurs Mérieux, 69007 Lyon: Friday 27 November 12:00–20:00 or Saturday 28 November 09:00–17:00, with ID. Check your slot in the registration account. The rules require individual collection, while the FAQ also describes collection for another person with documents: confirm before appointing someone.
  • Outside assistance is prohibited. Accredited elites alone may receive support at Sainte-Catherine and Soucieu-en-Jarrest: one person and one vehicle per athlete in designated areas. No unregistered companion on the course, cycling or skating alongside runners.
  • The FAQ lists a general, changing selection: Gruyère, sweet and savoury biscuits, oranges, bananas, chocolate, still and sparkling water and cola. This menu is not guaranteed at every station; quantities and brands remain unknown. Carry supplies between stations and a personal cup.
  • Finish at Halle Tony Garnier: meal announced from Saturday 28 November 23:30 to Sunday 29 November 16:30; showers and changing rooms at this venue only. Volunteer osteopaths, podiatrists and physiotherapists are announced at the finish; exact intermediate medical stations are unpublished. The emergency number is on the bib.
  • Poles are strictly forbidden under the FAQ. Electronic checkpoints are mandatory; wear the bib without cutting or folding it. No individual relay leg is cropped from the shared GPX.
  • Solo runners may hand in a bag at the start with the bib-envelope label and retrieve it in Lyon. The FAQ limits volume to 20 L; the rules require less than 10 kg. Both constraints are retained. No organizer bag service for relays.
  • Minimum age in the rules: 18 for SaintéTic, 20 for other adult formats including relays. Prepare the registration documents requested by the organizer; transport times and cold-kit activation must be rechecked before starting.

Checks before the start

  • Check the rules, your wave and cutoffs for your format.
  • Pack the basic kit and check cold-weather-kit activation.
  • Arrange transport to your start and back, including Sainte-Catherine restrictions.
  • Prepare ID, registration documents and cup; check supplies between stations.

Differences and information still uncertain

These items are shown explicitly so an approximation is never presented as official data.

  • Closing: race pages state 16:00 on Sunday 29 November, while the 2026 rules set 16:30. This dossier retains 16:30 with the conflict explicit. No individual maximum duration is inferred from the common closing or first wave.
  • Indicative 2026 distances published on race pages; intermediate coordinates, elevations and cumulative ascent/descent are unpublished. Historic 2025 GPX files are not used to geolocate 2026 stations.
  • No complete GPX attributable to this format is currently linked by the organizer page. Other formats’ tracks are neither joined nor cropped.
  • The page describes a maximum 13-hour outward leg, whereas 09:00–22:30 spans 13 h 30; the rules set 22:30. The 2026 ascent and full GPX are forthcoming; no round-trip track is fabricated.
